Job Description
The Associate Horticulture Manager has broad responsibilities that include overall leadership, maintenance, and design of the gardens and grounds of The Cloisters. The gardens are planted in reconstructed Romanesque and Gothic cloisters and comprise one of the most important specialized plant collections in the world containing over 300 different species of herbs, flowers, and trees. The job requires hands-on gardening as well as supervisory, administrative, communication, research, and design abilities.
Job Qualifications
The job requires proven horticultural and design skills, experience in leading and managing garden operations while managing multiple tasks on deadline, and strong commitment to historical gardens and techniques. This position requires a degree in a horticulture/related field combined with practical garden management and design experience. A driver's license is also required and prior experience working in a museum setting of comparable environment is preferred.
