Job Description
Responsibilities Include:
-Facilitate research at the Arboretum including all outlying lands
-Facilitate research of ALC, Senior Scientist, and other UW faculty and graduate students
-Assist ALC with permitting of research
-Track research permits; obtain abstracts and reprints from principal investigators, track progress of studies
-Assist in promoting the Arboretum )including outlying lands) as a research site
-Help PI's solicit funding for research and assist with grant reporting
-Publish an annual report of research
-Provide information on research opportunities and on-going projects for posting on Web
-Apply state of the art science to the management of Arboretum lands without jeopardizing the health of the ecosystems
Job Qualifications
Required: Certification to conduct burns desirable but not required
-Minimum 3 years experience in ecological restoration, ecosystem assessment and land management
-Minimum 3 years experience in supervision of employees and working with diverse teams
-Demonstrated experience in supervising assistants
-Knowledge of local natural history
-Able to identify plants and animals
-Working knowledge of soil-landscape and hydrological systems
-GIS skills strongly desired
