Job Description
Provide broad technical research and management support for the Reproductive Biology Center. Requires knowledge of research procedures and philosophy and practical application in a field research setting. Experience in large animal reproductive technologies such as AI, embryo collection and transfer, oocyte aspiration, and ultrasound examination are highly desirable. Specific responsibilities will include day-to-day management of research animals including a 300 head cow herd, 125 head goat herd, and 75 head horse herd, in support of animal reproductive physiology and biomedical research. For cow herd management this includes development of replacement heifers, market steers, cull cows, and bull purchases. Management of all herds will require animal health care, research data collection, production records, animal inventory maintenance, and related duties.
Job Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in Animal Science or closely related field. Experience in large animal reproductive technologies such as AI, embryo collection and transfer, oocyte aspiration, and ultrasound examination are highly desirable. Also desire practical experience in managing large and small animals.
