Job Description
Educator will be responsible for providing leadership in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the extension pest management educational and applied research programs in arthropod pest management for commercial vegetable production, other food crops and special projects on Long Island. The target audiences for this specialized position include commercial growers, horticultural service businesses, Cooperative Extension staff specialists, community decision-makers, and other professional staff conducting applied research on insect pest management on Long Island. The educator will conduct applied research and demonstrations at the LI Horticultural Research and Extension Center in Riverhead and at commercial grower facilities and will serve as subject matter resource to program committees, Cornell Cooperative Extension staff, and clientele, including agencies and other groups on a local, regional and statewide basis.
Job Qualifications
Masters Degree required in entomology or pest management. Must possess or have the ability to acquire a New York State Commercial Pesticide Applicators License.
