Job Description
The Superior National Forest is planning to recruit and fill a Forester Silviculturist, GS-460-9 position with the LaCroix Ranger District. The recruitment option to fill this position may be through the USDA Career Intern Program. Duties of the district Silviculturist include preparation of draft environmental impact statements or environmental analysis reports, develop plans for a multiple use forest resource area with diverse and complex problems and considerations, provide expertise and advice to operating level units on the development and execution of forest resource use plans and projects that involve conflicting interests or diverse situations, coordinate with other principal resource assistants, and with specialists in other disciplines, to ensure coordination and integration of the particular forestland management plan with other resources and activities and with the approves land management plans.
Job Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with a 4 year degree in Forestry or related field who would be interested in working on a national forest on a ranger district in Northern Minnesota as the district Silviculturist. Candidates need to have at least a 3.0 GPA, good writing skills, GIS skills or ability to learn, and ability to work with people.
