Job Description
The Central Park Conservancy currently has several opportunities in our Capital Projects division for qualified design professionals to join the team responsible for planning and implementing the ongoing restoration, enhancement, and stewardship of New York's world-famous park. In connection with the third and largest fundraising campaign in the Conservancy's 25-year history, we are presently embarking on an ambitious seven-year program of capital work involving the planning, design, and construction supervision of more than $50 million in capital improvements.
Responsibilities Include: preparing project scopes of work, developing schematic designs, preparing presentation graphics for community groups and regulatory commissions, researching materials and suppliers, preparing contract documents including drawings and technical specifications, preparing cost estimates throughout the phases of design, and participating in construction supervision.
Job Qualifications
Education Requirements: Degree from an accredited program in Landscape Architecture or Architecture. Familiarity with industry standards of practice, construction documentation, and code compliance. Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and MS Word required. Proficiency in Photoshop and SketchUp preferred.
Experience Required: 1 - 4 years
Qualified candidates should be able to demonstrate a high level of design ability, including technical proficiency, an aptitude for creative thinking, and problem solving skills. Professional knowledge and skills are specifically required in the areas of site analysis, design standards, construction materials and methods, plant materials, computer-aided drafting, hand rendering and computer graphics, construction documentation (drawings and specifications), safety and accessibility standards, and cost estimating.
