Job Description
-Conduct applied research to address key production/pest management/environmental needs, collaboratively with external (e.g. university) scientists as appropriate
-Provide on-farm technical support to Grower-Owners
-Implement outreach programs for Grower education and to facilitate research technology transfer.
-Execute field sampling programs to support Crop Estimation, Field Inspections (supports contract management) and fruit samples for pesticide residue analysis
-Represent the Cooperative as an information resource on matters relating to the overall business
-Travel throughout the Northeast is required.
Job Qualifications
MS in Pest Management or Crop Management related discipline (e.g. entomology, plant pathology, weed science, soil science, horticulture) and 0-1 year experience, or BS degree with 5-7 years of experience. Broad knowledge of agricultural production including agricultural chemicals. Ability to identify and initiate research projects including resource requirements and executions (skills in data collection and statistical analysis are a must). Ability to troubleshoot cranberry farm production problems and initiate research/outreach efforts as appropriate. Ability to communicate technical and business issues effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to participate in team projects is essential.
