Grants, Contracts and MOUs

Lisa Warner and Jason Ward are the grants and contracts officers within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.  They work with CALS faculty, staff, and the Office of Sponsored Programs to provide administrative guidance in the development of proposals for external research funding. They process, evaluate and analyze proposals to sponsors such as U.S. Department of Agriculture, New York State, National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, etc.

Warner and Ward ensure compliance with sponsor requirements, government regulations, and University policies. They have signature authority for most proposals. Warner and Ward also maintain regular personal or electronic contact with potential sponsors to obtain information regarding potential funding opportunities. They evaluate these opportunities and develop and maintain web-based databases and delivery systems to notify faculty.

All proposals must be submitted to a sponsor via Warner or Ward. Faculty submitting a proposal must inform their grant and contract officer of their intention at least one week in advance of the submission date. Prior to the submission date, Warner or Ward will review a draft for compliance with Cornell and sponsor guidelines.

A list of the division of Warner's and Ward's responsibilities is available in case of uncertainty regarding with whom to work on a grant or contract.
